What a modular kitchen actually costs in Bangalore

Updated July 2026 9 min read By Wood & Co. Interiors

Two quotes for the same kitchen can differ by two lakh, and the reason is almost never something you can see. Here is the honest breakdown of modular kitchen cost in Bangalore in 2026, from a team that builds them.

If you have started collecting quotes for a modular kitchen in Bangalore, you have probably noticed the range is enormous. One vendor says ₹1.8 lakh, another says ₹4 lakh, for what looks like the same kitchen. Neither is necessarily cheating you. They are quoting different things, and the differences are hidden inside the carcass, the hardware and the finish, where you cannot see them until years later.

This guide breaks the cost down the way a builder sees it, so you can compare quotes on equal terms and know roughly what your own kitchen should cost before you sign anything.

The short answer

In Bangalore in 2026, a modular kitchen typically costs between ₹1.5 lakh and ₹12 lakh. Most homeowners building a standard kitchen land in a much narrower band. Here is the realistic range by layout, for a quality build using a BWP plywood carcass and branded hardware, excluding countertop, chimney and hob.

Modular kitchen cost by layout · Bangalore 2026
LayoutTypical running feetCost range
Straight kitchen8 – 10 ft₹1.5 – 2.8 L
L-shaped kitchen10 – 14 ft₹2.5 – 5.0 L
Parallel kitchen12 – 16 ft₹3.0 – 6.0 L
U-shaped kitchen14 – 18 ft₹4.0 – 8.0 L
Island kitchen16 ft +₹6.0 L +

These are honest mid-market ranges. You can go below them with particle board and unbranded fittings, and well above them with imported acrylic and premium accessories. What follows is what moves you within, and beyond, these numbers.

The four things that actually decide your price

Almost the entire cost of a modular kitchen is woodwork, which is priced by the running foot (or square foot) of cabinetry. Four decisions set that per-foot rate.

1. Layout and total running feet

More cabinetry means more cost, simply. A straight kitchen needs the least; an island or U-shape needs the most. Layout is also the one factor largely fixed by your floor plan, so it sets the baseline everything else multiplies against. If you are working to a budget, an L-shape gives most Bangalore homes the best balance of workspace and cost.

2. Carcass material, the part you never see

The carcass is the box structure of every cabinet. It is hidden behind shutters, so it is the easiest place for a cheap quote to save money, and the most expensive place to be wrong. In Bangalore's humidity, this single choice decides whether your kitchen is solid at year ten or swelling at year three.

A good builder specifies the carcass grade in writing in the BOQ before work starts. If a quote does not name the carcass material, that is the first question to ask.

3. Shutter finish, the part you do see

The finish is the visible face of the shutter, and where taste meets budget.

4. Hardware, the part you use 50,000 times

You open a kitchen drawer or cabinet 15 to 20 times a day. Over a decade that is well over 50,000 cycles. Hardware is what decides whether everything still glides at year ten or starts sagging at year three. Branded soft-close hinges and channels from Hettich, Hafele or Blum cost more upfront and are, quietly, the difference between a kitchen that ages well and one that does not. Unbranded hardware is where a low quote often hides its savings.

What is usually included, and what is not

Two quotes at the same price can cover very different things. Before you compare, line up what each one excludes, because the excluded items add up fast.

How to compare two quotes fairly

Why a turnkey team can price differently

A typical kitchen touches several hands: a designer, a carpenter, a hardware supplier, sometimes a separate contractor for civil and electrical. Each adds a margin, and those margins stack before you have seen a single cabinet. When one team handles design and execution together, material, hardware and labour are priced as one scope, which removes a layer of stacked markup. That is the model we work with at Wood & Co., and it is a large part of why our estimates read the way they do.

Frequently asked questions

What is the average modular kitchen cost in Bangalore in 2026?

Between ₹1.5 lakh and ₹12 lakh overall. A standard L-shaped kitchen of 10 to 14 running feet with a BWP plywood carcass, laminate finish and branded hardware usually lands between ₹2.5 lakh and ₹5 lakh, excluding countertop, chimney and hob.

How is modular kitchen cost calculated?

Most of the cost is woodwork, priced per running foot of cabinetry. The per-foot rate is set by four things: your layout and total feet, the carcass grade, the shutter finish, and the hardware brand.

Is BWP plywood worth the extra cost?

Yes. In Bangalore's humidity the carcass is the component most likely to fail, and BWP resists moisture far better than BWR or MDF. It is the last place to cut cost, not the first.

What is usually left out of a modular kitchen quote?

Countertop, chimney and hob, sink and tap, backsplash tiles, and under-cabinet lighting are commonly excluded. Always confirm exclusions before comparing two prices.
